their self-titled debut album, the Oslo duo Band of Gold really hit gold. The
superlatives, recognition and hype they have received is utterly justified.
The album was nominated for a Norwegian Grammy, and at this year's by:Larm
Festival they received the coveted Nordic Music Prize in competition with 11
Nordic bands and artists.
Since 2012, the duo consisting of vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and
songwriter Nina Elisabeth Mortvedt and BigBang/Elephant9 bassist Nicolai
Hængsle Eilertsen have made music together, based on Mortvedt’s solo work.
In the studio, they collaborated with renowned musicians like Dungen guitarist
Reine Fiske, Jaga Jazzist-multi-instrumentalist Lars Horntveth, and Motorpsycho
drummer Kenneth Kapstad, to name a few.
Their sound is characterized by being musically retrospective, but with a
contemporary flair that made them a Norwegian pop sensation of 2015.
