Legendary artist and producer Brian Eno is confirmed as Artistic Director of this year´s Punkt Festival. He will curate all nine concerts during the three day festival (6. – 8. September) and as with past editions, the artists’ performances will be remixed live after the concerts. Limited edition “earlybird” passes at reduced price are available now. See the Tickets section for how to purchase the passes.
Last time Eno curated a whole festival was at the Sydney Opera House. Then, the New South Wales Government called the festival “the biggest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere”. Now, in 2012, Brian Eno curates the first Punkt Festival at the new Kilden Performing Arts Centre in Kristiansand, where he will present some of his current favourite artists and remixers.
Brian Eno is an English musician, composer, record producer, singer and visual artist, known as one of the principal innovators of ambient music. He visited Punkt in 2008 with the audiovisual installation 77 Million Paintings for Punkt, an audio visual piece that has been shown in galleries around the world, from Tokyo to California, London to Cape Town.
Brian Eno has produced and performed on albums by Talking Heads, produced seven albums for U2 as well as worked on records by James, Laurie Anderson, Coldplay, Paul Simon and Grace Jones, among others.
His pioneering ambient work as “sonic landscapes” began with Ambient 1: Music for Airports and later Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks which was composed for the documentary film For All Mankind. His latest album Drums Between The Bells was released by Warp in 2011.
Eno’s solo work has been extremely influential, pioneering ambient and generative music, innovating production techniques, and emphasizing “theory over practice”. He also introduced the concept of chance music to popular audiences through collaborations with other musicians.
He continues to work with other musicians and artists, produce records, release his own albums, write and create and exhibit his visual works.

I wish I could get to Norway for this *sob*
Is there any chance that Eno will perform live at Punkt?
