Praise for Arve Henriksen`s "Cartography"

Although not strictly a "Punkt product", we would like to lead your attention to trumpeter/composer Arve Henriksen`s album "Cartography" which was released on the ECM label in October. The album is produced by Jan Bang and Erik Honoré, and several tracks are recorded at the Punkt festival and treated further in the studio. Here are some comments and reviews:

BBC
The Observer
The Independent
The Independent "Best albums of the year"
Boomkat All about Jazz
David Sylvian`s website
The Milk Factory

Dagsavisen (in Norwegian)

... and undoubtably the most original review of all: due to an illness not serious enough to put me in the hospital but serious enough to make me avoid getting out of bed or yell at the noisy neighbors or whatever if you don`t have to, `cartography` has been playing nonstop for the past, what?, forty-six hours on my computer. like brian eno`s experience with his broken leg, it`s been playing just softly enough to where i can barely make it out, but loud enough that my attention often drifts into the next room, where it`s unendingly spooling out. despite auditioning it for i guess that would have to be about fifty times in a row, i`m not concerned that i`ve ruined the record. i think if i sat down and listened to it start to finish. at normal volume, it would remain surprising; familiar, but still new. thanks for that. Sean
